New Years Resolution... in February

So its February and my New Years Resolution was to blog a few times a week.  It's only the middle of February and I can start now right?  A lot has happened since I blogged last and I want to keep up with the life altering journey I have been through since then.

Have you ever been one of those people who thought you might be sick but thought it just might be in your head and decided that there was no need to go get it checked out?  I WAS!  I have suffered through migraines for as long as I can remember.  My mom told me she had them and my granddad had them so just genetics - get over it and deal with it is what I was going to do.  Until I woke up one day with a migraine that was so unbearable that I called my mom in tears and could barely talk.  Most migraines I take a hot shower get in the dark, tough it out and wake up and its gone.  Not this one, it lingered for days and was causing me not to be able to move my neck.  My mom insisted I go to the doctor.  Long story short, I was sent in for an MRI and was called quickly in that it was abnormal and I needed to see a neurosurgeon.  She explained to me that I had something called Chiari Malformation.  This day had forever changed my life.  I went straight to my parents and of course we googled and researched it, I went through the check list and just knew they wrote this about me.   I wasn't crazy after all.  The dizziness that I had been having, the numbness, fatigue, and clumsiness (that I had been joked about my whole life :)) was all because my brain was too big for my head.  After 3 MRI's and a few doctor appointments later I was being wheeled back for surgery at Emory Hospital with Dr. Barrow - who I hope I will be able to call my hero.

I'm not writing this post for sympathy or any of sorts but because this condition is something that not many people know about including lots of doctors.  I had to do my own research to figure out where to go and who to see and what exactly my life was going to be like.  I came across a blog that led me to Dr. Barrow and I'm hoping I can help just one person.

My sweet boy got to visit and knew mommy was sick and he was as good and concerned as he could be...
And of course my family has put up with me been such supporters.  It hasn't been easy on them as well.

So although I hope to keep my resolution to keep up with this blog , my bigger resolution is keep up with my health.

We also signed my sweet boy up for T-ball! I can't wait to watch him play!! Practice starts soon so we got all the gear we will need!!

Oh and did I mention I am a mom to a 3 YEAR OLD! OMG!
